ROHNERT PARK -- In its second-to-last home match of the 2014 season, the Sonoma State women's tennis team honored its five seniors with an 8-1 victory over Holy Names on Saturday at the SSU Tennis Courts in Rohnert Park.  The 35th-ranked Seawolves rose to 15-6 this season, including a 7-2 mark on their home court.  The Hawks dropped to 6-9.

The duos of Sara Celma/Kaitlyn Haithcock (8-2), Leire Martinez/Lauren Ha (8-1) and Sheena Johnson/Geri Richards (8-3) easily dispatched their opponents to put SSU up 3-0 after doubles play. 

In singles play, Celma and Martinez didn't allow a point by their opponents at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, which clinched the overall match victory for the Seawolves.  Haithcock shutout her opponent in the first set and won 7-5 in the second set to secure the straight-set win at No. 3.  After giving up three and four points, respectively, in the first set, Johnson and Ha went on to shutout their opponents in the second frame to win their matches at No. 4 and No. 5.  Trotta, however, suffered the only loss for SSU, snapping her four-match win streak with a 7-5, 6-3 loss in a hard-fought battle at No. 6.

Sara Celma, Lauren Ha, Sheena Johnson, Geri Richards and Spencer Trotta were honored in a special pre-match ceremony on Saturday.  It was originally scheduled to be SSU's final home match of the season, but a rainout earlier this season against Notre Dame de Namur forced the team to reschedule it for this upcoming Tuesday, but the team decided to keep Senior Day as is.  Therefore, the Seawolves will wrap up the regular season on Monday against NDNU, slated for a 1:00 pm start before heading to Arizona for the Pacific West Conference Tournament starting Thursday.
