ROHNERT PARK -- Behind a double-double effort by
Madelyn Densberger, who led all hitters with 11 kills and recorded 12 digs, the Sonoma State women's volleyball team cruised to its eighth consecutive victory with a dominating 3-0 win (25-18, 25-16, 25-16) over visiting Humboldt State on Saturday night at The Wolves' Den in Rohnert Park.
The Seawolves (12-3, 8-1 CCAA) remain in first place in the CCAA by one-half game ahead of Cal State San Bernardino. The Lumberjacks fell to 6-8 and 4-6 in conference action.
Kelsey McIntire added nine kills for SSU and hit .500,
Emily Papale and
Lexi Reddick chipped in with eight kills apiece, and
Caylie Seitz, who needs 18 kills to break Sonoma State's all-time kills record, managed just five in the victory.
Rachel Andrews slammed six kills and made six blocks (two solo).
Defensively, the Seawolves held the 'Jacks to just .025 on offense, thanks to four SSU players with double-digit digs --
Kaitlyn Connolly (16), Densberger (12),
Courtney Seda (11) and Reddick (10).
Calan Seitz handed out a team-high 20 assists.
Sonoma State will hit the road for two matches, beginning with a Friday night battle with the Pioneers at Cal State East Bay. First serve is set for 7:00 pm.
