ROHNERT PARK -- After a scoreless first half,
Raad Aljabi netted the first goal of the game just seven minutes after the intermission and
Brenton Frame followed with two goals of his own later in half as the Sonoma State men's soccer team rolled to a 3-1 victory over visiting Cal State San Marcos on Friday afternoon at the Seawolf Soccer Field.
The Seawolves improve to 7-4-2 overall and 3-3-1 in the CCAA while the Cougars fall to 5-6-2 and 3-5-1 in conference play.
With a three-goal lead and momentum for much of the day, Sonoma surrendered a goal to CSU San Marcos with only 1:30 to play in the match, overshadowing a stellar defensive effort by the Seawolf backline. SSU outshot CSUSM 14-9 and only one of the nine Cougar shots was on goal -- it was their lone goal off the foot of Andrew Stalboerger.
Mitch North didn't make any saves for Sonoma while CSUSM's Zach Sheppard made five.
Sonoma State continues its final homestand of the year on Sunday when it hosts UC San Diego. Kickoff from the Seawolf Soccer Field is scheduled for 11:30 am.
