Sweet 16! No. 21 Seawolves Notch 16th Straight Victory

LOS ANGELES -- The Sonoma State women's volleyball team continued its streak of success Saturday afternoon, knocking off host Cal State L.A. in three sets (25-20, 27-25, 25-19) for its 16th consecutive victory, and its fifth straight win by way of a sweep.

The Seawolves improved to 20-3 this season, eclipsing the 20-win mark for the 13th time in program history, and for the seventh time in the last eight years, inching closer to their second CCAA title in as many years, sporting a 16-1 record in conference play with three regular season matches left to play.

The Golden Eagles (18-8, 10-7 CCAA) fell into a tie for fourth place in the conference standings with Cal Poly Pomona.

Sonoma was led by the 11 kills from Caylie Seitz and nine from Kelsey McIntire and Madelyn Densberger.  As a team, the Seawolves hit .239 while holding the Golden Eagles to .139.  Kaitlyn Connolly recorded 15 digs to lead the team, followed by Densberger who had 11.  Calan Seitz scored a double-double Saturday with 15 assists and 10 digs.  Courtney Seda had a team-high 20 assists.  SSU held the CCAA's kills leader, Cal State L.A.'s Iona Lofrano to just 12 kills on an .089 hitting percentage.

Sonoma State will wrap up its three-match roadtrip on Sunday at Cal State San Marcos.  First serve is set for 12:00 pm.  The Seawolves will then return home for their final two home matches of the season next Friday against Stanislaus State and Saturday against Chico State, both at 7:00 pm in The Wolves' Den.
