LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- After falling behind in both games on Friday, the Sonoma State softball team staged a pair of relentless rallies to pull out a 6-5 victory over Montana State Billings before upsetting No. 23 California Baptist 9-6 to wrap up day one of the MSUB Desert Stinger at Majestic Park in Las Vegas, Nev. The Seawolves rose to 3-2 this season.
Amanda Rossetta went 4 for 5 with two doubles, a home run, three RBI's and three runs scored in the two games combined, including the go-ahead two-run home run against the nationally-ranked Lancers (7-3) in the top of the fifth inning. Sonoma pounded out 21 hits on Friday, 12 of which came against the Yellowjackets (1-1).
Amanda Llerena earned the victory in the circle for the Seawolves against MSUB before working the final two innings against CBU to record her first career save.
Sonoma State will continue play at the MSUB Desert Stinger with two games on Saturday, facing off with a pair of Great Northwest Athletic Conference foes in Northwest Nazarene (2:00 pm) and Saint Martin's (7:00 pm).
