Sourek's Double-Double Not Enough In Sonoma's Loss To Chico

ROHNERT PARK -- Hannah Sourek recorded a double-double when she scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as Sonoma State lost a hard fought affair to the visiting Chico State Wildcats, 56-51, Friday night at Wolves' Den. The Seawolves are now 4-15 in CCAA play and 6-17 overall. Chico State improves to 6-13 in the conference and 9-14 overall.

The Seawolves were down 21-18 with 4:44 left in the first half when Chico State went on a 10-3 run to close out the half and send the Seawolves down 31-22 at the break. Chico State opened the second half scoring when they hit a three-pointer, but the Seawolves were able to get rolling right after that. Sonoma State went on a 15-2 run capped off by a Molly Kommer jumper at 11:22 that gave the Seawolves a 37-36 lead. Unfortunately, that was the only lead the Seawolves would hold in the second half and Chico State went on to record a CCAA victory.

Sonoma State was outshot from the field 36.4% to 30.9% for the game. The Seawolves won the battle on boards by a 44-35 margin. The Wildcats were able to turn 17 Seawolf turnovers into 17 points, while the Seawolves received 14 turnovers, but were only able to convert them into eight points.
In addition to Sourek's stellar night, Taylor Acosta had all-around good performance with seven points and 10 rebounds. Kommer contributed six points and three rebounds.

Chico State was led in scoring by Hannah Womack who had 13 points.

Sonoma State closes out the home-portion of their 2014-15 campaign with a matchup against Cal State Stanislaus Saturday at 5:30 PM.
