LOS ANGELES -- The Sonoma State baseball team suffered its fifth straight loss on Sunday, dropping a 5-0 decision to host Cal State L.A. at Reeder Field in Los Angeles to wrap up opening weekend of the CCAA schedule without a victory.  The Seawolves (3-7, 0-4 CCAA), the defending conference champions, were held to just eight runs in the four-game series and to two runs or less in three of the four contests.

Cal State L.A.'s Icezack Flemming pitched seven shutout innings to lead the Golden Eagles (9-2, 4-0 CCAA) on Sunday, allowing just two hits over seven outstanding innings. He walked three and struck out nine. Flemming didn't allow a hit until a leadoff double in the sixth inning from Jourdan Weiks and he didn't allow more than one baserunner in any inning.

Marcos Casillas and Chris Oropesa each tossed a scoreless inning of relief to complete the win for the Golden Eagles.

Sonoma State also got a superb outing from its starter, Devin Bradley, who gave up only three hits and one run through five innings.

Kyle Peralta was 2-for-3 with one RBI. He doubled home the first run of the game in the third inning. Anthony Lombardo and Nick Osuna also had two hits each.

Cal State L.A. struck for its first run in the third inning. With Trent Zaks running from first, Peralta lined a double into the right-centerfield gap to easily score Zaks with the game's first run.

It stayed that way until the sixth when Cal State L.A. scored three more times to make it 4-0. Ryan Welker drew a walk and moved to second on a single by Lombardo. Paul Martinez singled to load the bases and Osuna made it 2-0 with a sacrifice fly. David Trejo followed with a single to right to drive in Paul Martinez and Lombardo also scored on an outfield error to make it 4-0.

Cal State L.A. completed the scoring with a run in the seventh. Zaks was hit by a pitch, stole second, took third on a single by Peralta and scored on a sacrifice fly by Welker.

Sonoma State will continue its nine-game road trip on Friday when it opens a four-game set with Chico State in Chico.

The final game of the series against the Wildcats on Sunday, Mar. 1 will shift to Raley Field in Sacramento for the fourth annual Capital City Clash.  Tickets are on sale now.  Click here for more information.
