RENO, Nev. -- The Sonoma State women's tennis team rolled to all three points in doubles before taking four of six singles matches on their way to a 7-2 win over Cal State Stanislaus on Saturday afternoon in Reno.
Jordyn Kearney,
Karlee Budge, and Jacqueline Ward all won twice as the 25th-ranked Seawolves improve to 8-5 on the season. Cal State Stanislaus falls to 2-6.
The No. 1 doubles team of
Leire Martinez and
Jacquelyn Ward set the tone for a successful day with a quick 8-1 win over J'Ana Diamond and Jessica Laurie. The No. 2 and No. 3 teams weren't far behind, each cruising by scores of 8-2.
Though Cal State Stanislaus would earn points at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, the Seawolves' depth proved to be the difference in singles. Kearney (6-0, 6-1), Budge (6-0, 6-0), Ward (6-0, 6-2), and
Julie Rea (6-0, 6-3) all won easily to put the match away.
The Seawolves are back in action on Sunday morning when they take on the University of Nevada.
