ROHNERT PARK -- The 25th-ranked Sonoma State women's tennis team blew past visiting Hawaii Hilo, 9-0, on Tuesday at the SSU Tennis Courts to notch its third consecutive victory by shutout and rise to 11-6 this season.  The Vulcans stumbled to 2-14.

The Seawolves got things started off on the right foot, grabbing two wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, as well as the third point via default at No. 3.  Leire Martinez and Jacquelyn Ward, the 10th-ranked doubles tandem in the West Region, won 8-3 and Hillary Fazekas and Karlee Budge slid up to No. 2 and defeated their opponents 8-2.  It was the sixth straight win for Fazekas and Budge in doubles play (11-2 this season).

With a 3-0 lead, the Seawolves kept the pressure on the Vulcans and clinched the match with straight-set wins at No. 3, 4 and 5 singles by Jordyn Kearney (6-0, 6-1), Budge (6-0, 6-0) and Ward (6-0, 6-0), respectively.  Martinez, who is ranked at No. 8 in the West Region in singles play, held off Trixie Croad at No. 1 singles for a 7-5, 6-3 win for her 10th victory of the season and Kaitlyn Haithcock lost her first set, but rallied to win the next and the 10-point tiebreaker (5-7, 6-1, 10-4) to complete Sonoma's 9-0 win.

Sonoma State will play its final three home matches of the 2015 campaign in the next few days, beginning with a matchup on Thursday against Dixie State at 10:30 am.  The Seawolves will then host UC San Diego on Saturday (11:00 am) before playing their final home match on Sunday against Cal State Stanislaus (12:00 pm).
