ROHNERT PARK, Calif. -- Sonoma State kicked off their final week of home action on Thursday afternoon with a strong performance against PacWest conference foe Dixie State at the Seawolf Tennis Courts in Rohnert Park. The Seawolves, ranked 24th in this week's ITA National Rankings, defeated the Red Storm 8-1 to improve to 12-6 on the season.
The Seawolves took all three doubles matches, the closest coming at No. 1 with
Leire Martinez and
Jacquelyn Ward surviving with a 9-7 win.
Karlee Budge and
Hillary Fazekas earned an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles.
Martinez, ranked 47th in this week's ITA singles rankings, led the way with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. Big wins also came from
Jordyn Kearney at No. 3,
Karlee Budge at No. 4,
Jacquelyn Ward at No. 5, and
Julie Rea at No. 6.
The Seawolves are back in action on Saturday when they host #17 UC San Diego. The following day they will conclude their home schedule against Cal State Stanislaus.
