SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The Sonoma State women's tennis team saw their season end in heartbreaking fashion on Friday as Point Loma Nazarene came from behind to stun the Seawolves 5-4 at the Pacific West Conference Championships in Surprise, Arizona. The Seawolves, ranked 24th in the nation in the most recent ITA rankings, finish 2015 at 16-9 overall for their fourth winning season in five years under
Joaquin Lopez.
Things looked good for Sonoma State early on as they rolled to a 3-0 lead thanks to wins on all three courts.

Jordyn Kearney won 8-3 at No. 2 and
Leire Martinez &
Jacquelyn Ward won 8-4 at No. 1. The closest match was at No. 3, where
Karlee Budge &
Hillary Fazekas edged out their competition 9-7.
Slowly, the Seawolves saw their lead disappear as the Sea Lions turned in wins at the 5, 2, 4, and 1 spots - in order. Kearney kept the Seawolves alive, knotting the score at 4-4 with her 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 3, but PLNU got the clincher at No. 6 as Kirsty Mountain bested Fazekas 6-1, 6-3.
