A Win Against the Warriors! Seawolves Improve 6-4 in CCAA

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. - The Seawolves improved their CCAA record to 6-4 with a four set victory over the Stanislaus State Warriors Tuesday night in the Wolves Den 25-21, 15-25, 25-17, 25-22. The team totaled 8 aces on the night and captialized on Warrior errors to get the win.

Calan Seitz and Emily Papale lead the team in kills with 11 a piece and Caiti Wiesner followed closely with 10. Courtney Seda had top numbers in service aces (4) and assists (38). She also had 11 digs, right in between Megan Bohorquez's 12 and Lexi Mudd's 10.

There were no lead changes in the first two sets. In the first set at 9-5 the Seawolves took off on a run to distance themselves 14-6. The Warriors tried to catch up and made a close run at the end, but within 4 is the closest they would get to the Seawolves. In the second set, Stanislaus State jumped ahead at 3-2 and kept the lead till 25-15.

In the third set there was only one tied score and one lead change. They both happened before either team reached 3. At one-all, Sonoma went on a seven point streak unanswered and dominated the set till the end 25-17.

The fourth and final set was more competitive for the teams. At 9-6 the Seawolves called a timeout and the Warriors gained the next point. But a creative kill by Wiesner got the Seawolves to 10-7. The teams fought through some intense and crazy rallies and tied up the score at 18 all. It was back and forth, but a kill by Rachel Andrews and a Warriors error got Sonoma the lead of 23-20 to force a Stanislaus State timeout. The set ended 25-22 in favor of the Seawolves.

Sonoma State will host Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday night at 7pm in the Wolves' Den.
