Seawolves Sweep Gators: Extend Their Winning Streak to 7

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. –It was a team effort that helped Sonoma State sweep the San Francisco State Gators 25-10, 25-14, 25-16 Wednesday night in the Wolves' Den.

Seven Seawolves contributed kills and ten contributed at least two points in tonight's match. Courtney Seda (27) and Baelei Wiesner (8) boosted the Seawolves to a team hitting percentage of .311. Calan Seitz had the team high kill total with 11, Caiti Wiesner followed with 9, and Kelsey McIntire and Rachel Andrews had 6 each.

Seda and Megan Bohorquez had 7 digs each, while Lexi Mudd, Emily Papale, Caiti Wiesner, and Ashleigh Phelps had 6 digs a piece. Phelps also served five aces, three in the first set alone. It is a personal career high and the most of any Seawolf in a single match this season. The team had 10 aces, just short of their season record of 11.

A Wiesner kill, Andrews and Papale stuff block, Seda ace, and a Gator error followed by a time out opened the first set. SFSU got on the board at 5-1 only to turn the ball over on a service ace. 17-5 saw the second Gator time out in the set and it was over at 25-10.

The second set also featured a Papale and Andrews block in the early points. At 12-6 the Gators started catching up before Sonoma went on a 13-8 run to win the set 25-14.

The third set saw five tied scores and three lead changes, the first time in the match for either. All tied scores and lead changes and two Gator timeouts  happened before SFSU reached the 8th point. From there the score went from 8-7 to 14-8 Seawolves on a 7-1 run. The Gators would only serve 8 more times before the end of the match at 25-16.

Saturday November 5th at 7pm in the Wolves' Den is senior night for Sonoma State. The Seawolves will host Humboldt State.
