HONOLULU, Hawaii -- The Seawolves battled, but in the end came up on the short side of a 9-0 defeat on Friday afternoon to the second-ranked team in the country, Hawaii Pacific.
Logan Liddell nearly took a set off his opponent at No. 3 singles and
Kevin To won five games at No. 5, but the Sharks were simply too powerful.
Led by individuals ranked in the national top ten at the top of the ladder, HPU won all three doubles matches by scores of 8-3, 8-2, and 8-2.

Blaine Mengert took a 6-2, 6-1 loss at No. 2 doubles to #8 Jaume Martinez Vich. Liddell, at No. 3, pushed Alexander Meyer in the first set before falling 7-6. He would run out of gas in the second and fall 6-1. At the No. 5 position, To was a 6-3, 6-3 loser to Torben Otto.
The loss leaves the Seawolves at 0-6 on the year. It was Sharks' 2016 debut, as they go to 1-0.
On Saturday, the Seawolves take on Hawaii-Hilo for the second time in the last three days. The Vulcans were a 6-3 winner of Sonoma State on Thursday.
