Rohnert Park, CA - This afternoon the PacWest released the 2019-20 academic team where 6 Seawolves from the men's and women's tennis teams were selected for their performance on and off the court. For the conference as a whole, over 1700 student-athletes were selected to the academic team, nearing a conference record. 44 students posted a 4.0 GPA which was a new record for the conference. 

From the men's side for Sonoma State, junior Joshua Liu recorded a 3.69 GPA during the spring season while majoring in communications. Joining Liu is also junior Santiago Sarudiansky who recorded a team high 3.89 GPA majoring in Business Administration. Santiago was also named PacWest player of the week early in the 2020 spring season. Finally, senior Max Nudell was honored by being named to the PacWest Academic team. Max recorded a 3.36 GPA in Business Administration and was also one of the Seawolves top players during his senior season. 

For the women's program led by first year coach Rafael Martinez, we saw a diverse group of young and veteran Seawolves making the PacWest Academic team. Freshman player Amber Huk represented the youth on the Seawolves squad as she recorded a 3.66 GPA as she studies Communications here at Sonoma State! Junior Hannah Highsmith recorded a 3.63 GPA while studying Biology at Sonoma State. Senior Jenna DeTurk studied psychology at SSU and recorded a 3.71 GPA. Jenna would also earn PacWest player of the week honors after a 3-game sweep early in the 2020 season over Dominican, Mills College and Holy Names! Finally for the Seawolves is freshman #1 Sasha Turchak, a local recruit out of Berkeley, California. Sasha had a dominant freshman campaign until the suspension of the season. Having been the Seawolves #1 for most of the season, Sasha also recorded a 3.78 GPA while studying Kinesiology.
