ROHNERT PARK -- Jensyn Warren earned an upset victory in straight sets at the top of the singles lineup over the 31st-ranked player in Division II, but it would only be one of two points scored by the Sonoma State women's tennis team in a 7-2 loss to No. 22 UC San Diego on Easter Sunday at the SSU Tennis Courts in Rohnert Park.

The Seawolves, ranked 24th in the nation, fell to 12-5 this season.  The Tritons rose to 10-8.

UCSD got out to an early 3-0 lead by sweeping the doubles matches.  At the top of the doubles ladder, the 25th-ranked team of Britta Mosser and Kyra Scott defeated Jordyn Kearney and Jensyn Warren, 8-6.  At No. 2, Ashley Chao and Shannon Theisen were 8-5 winners against Seawolves Hillary Fazekas and Amanda Zuidema. In the third spot, Madison Hale and Alexandra Weil topped Kaitlyn Haithcock and Katherine Long, 8-1.

In singles play, UCSD got wins from Mosser at No. 2, Jasmine Hosseini at No. 3, Weil at No. 5 and Hale at No. 6. Hosseini, Weil and Hale all won their matches in straight sets over Haithcock, Karlee Budge and Fazekas, respectively.

At No. 1 singles, the freshman Warren upset senior Kyra Scott, ranked 31st in the nation in singles play, with a convincing 6-2, 6-3 win, ending Scott's eight-match win streak.  Zuidema scored the other Seawolves point at No. 4 singles with an identical 6-2, 6-3 victory over UCSD's Chao.

Sonoma State will play a doubleheader on Friday at home, first taking on Notre Dame de Namur at 11:00 am before playing Dominican at 2:00 pm.
