SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – In their Friday afternoon game against Cal State San Bernardino, Sonoma State secured their fifth conference victory—thanks to
Alexis Espitia and
Cecilia Sifuentes—by a final score of 2-1.
Espitia put the Seawolves on the board early as she gathered a fifth minute rebounded shot from Sifuentes. Espitia gathered, and struck from a yard out, easily putting away the first goal of the game.
After the break, Espitia was at it again. Following some back and forth touches between Sifuentes and Espitia, Alexis took the tight shot, putting the ball on goal for her sixth of the year.
The Coyotes took one back in the 82nd minute thanks to Hadee Duran's first of the year but the Seawolves prevented San Bernardino from earning any points at home, limiting them to just the single goal.
With the victory, Sonoma State improves their winning streak to six games straight and pushes their record to 11-1-0 and 5-1-0 in conference play. They now sit in sole possession of second place in the CCAA and will travel to face third place Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday at 11:30am PT.
