ROHNERT PARK, Calif. — With her third double-double of the season, Ugochi Anudokem led Sonoma State to a 69-57 defeat of Stanislaus State Saturday night from the Wolves' Den. In addition to the sophomore forward, two other Seawolves put up double-digit scoring performances: Carly Gill (12) and Sam Erisman (11).
With the victory, Sonoma State breaks a three-game losing streak, improving to 3-4 and 1-3 in CCAA play. Stanislaus falls to 5-5 and 2-4 in conference play.
The Seawolves jumped ahead in the first minutes of the game and, after the first quarter, never looked back. Anudokem put up eight points in the opening 10 minutes of play, leading Sonoma State to a 14-10 lead. By halftime, the Seawolves had opened up a nine-point lead, thanks to a a 52.2% shooting percentage, in contrast to the Warriors' 25.9% accuracy from the field.
Controlling a 31-22 advantage through the first half, Sonoma State continued to build upon their momentum through the final two quarters. Anudokem added to her 10 first-half points with 13 in the second, while Jessica Mitz put up nine, and Carly Gill, eight.
The Seawolves opened up their largest lead of the game with an 8-1 run over the 2:23 late in the third quarter, which pushed Sonoma State out to a 49-34 margin. They went on to maintain a double digit lead for much of the final period.
With 23-points and 14 rebounds, Anduokem sets career highs in each respective category.
The Seawolves return to action next Saturday as they travel to Arcata and take on the Humboldt State Jacks. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30pm PT.
