ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – The Seawolves had an excellent day at the ball park, sweeping the day against Cal State San Marcos. Sonoma won the first game of the DH 10-3, and the second 8-0. They rise 10-8 overall and 7-7 in the CCAA. The Cougars fall 12-12 on the season and 2-10 in conference.
Game 1:
The Seawolves had 10 runs on 15 hits and no errors. They scored five in the third inning, four in the sixth and one in the seventh. They held the Cougars to 3 runs on 7 hits and CSUSM committed 2 errors.
Nathan Mann had a game, going 3 for 3, had 3 RBI's and scored 2 runs. Caresio was 1 for 3 with two RBI's.
Haydon Turpin picked up is fourth win of the season. He had five strike outs, and 5 hits in six innings pitched. The entire pitching staff of Turpin,
Christian Viramontes and
Nicolas Vega combined for 8 strike outs.
In the third inning, there were two double-RBI's that scored points 2-5 off of
Nathan Mann and
Daniel Caresio who both singled to left field. In the sixth inning,
Grant St. Martin doubled to left for an RBI, then Mann,
Joshua Montelongo and
Rayson Romero all had RBI singles.
Patrick Tolbert pinch hit in the seventh inning and had the last RBI of the game.
Game 2:
The second game of today's DH saw not one but two home runs. St. Martin homered in the third inning on the 0-1 pitch, and
Trevor Abrams had a triple RBI homer.
Aside from those two hits, the Seawolves also scored in the first off a St. Martin single, in the fifth on a wild pitch, a sac-fly by Romero in the fifth and a single by Montelongo in the sixth brought in
Bryce Nagata.
St. Martin was 3 for 4 at bat, with 2 runs and 2 RBI's,
Trevor Abrams was 3 for 4 with 1 run and 3 RBI's, and
Bryce Nagata was 3 for 5 with 2 runs.
The Cougars didn't score a single run in game 2, and had 6 hits. Pitcher
Matt Hammonds moves up to 2-0 this season and
Ricky Clark earned his first save this season. Combined, they had 13 strike-outs on 32 at bats and allowed no earned runs.
The Seawolves will play Cal State San Marcos on Sunday March 19, for a single game starting at 11:00am
