LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Seawolves took game one of their three game series against the #5 Tritons 5-1 Saturday night. Sonoma State rises to 9-7 in the CCAA and 12-8 overall while UC San Diego falls 10-3 in conference and 18-5 overall.
Haydon Turpin pitched through 6.2 innings giving up no earned runs, only six hits and tallying seven strike-outs.
Ricky Clark came in to close 2.1 innings and struck out three himself, allowing no hits or runs. Turpin earns the win and is 5-1 this season, Clark earns his second save.
Sonoma had five runs on eight hits and one error.
Daniel Caresio was 1 for 4 with two runs scored,
Mitch West was 2 for 5 with one run scored with 2 RBI's.

Joshua Montelongo,
Matthew Richards each earned an RBI apiece.
In the first inning, Sonoma set the tone and scored three runs. Caresio was walked to start the game and scored on a double down the left field line by West. Next, Mann singled to center to score West. The next run was a sacrifice fly by Richards to bring in Montelongo.
In the fourth inning, the Seawolves scored their final two runs. West singled to left field to score via
Rayson Romero. The next run came in on a fielder's choice to get West out at second while Montelongo reached first and Caresio scored.
First pitch for Sunday's double header against the Tritons is scheduled for 11:00am in La Jolla.
