SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Sonoma State swept the day against Cal State San Bernardino with ease, defeating them 7-5 in game one and 9-3 in the second. The Seawolves rise 12-11 in conference and 16-13 overall and the Coyotes fall 8-15 in CCAA play and 9-24 overall.
Game 1:
Sonoma had 7 runs on 13 hits. The Seawolves scored five runs in the third inning and two in the fourth when
Trevor Abrams singled up the middle.
Haydon Turpin picked up his sixth win of the season.
Abrams continues to have success at the plate, he went 3 for 5 with 4 RBI's and one run scored.
Daniel Caresio was 2 for 3 with two runs scored,
Mitch West was 2 for 4 with two runs scored as well, and
Grant St. Martin was 2 for 4.
Caresio, Abrams and
Jake Sahagian all claimed a double against the Tritons.
Game 2:
Sonoma pulled out the big bats in game two, having 9 runs on 13 hits. Abrams and
Matthew Richards each had a home run, and Caresio had two doubles and St. Martin one of his own.
Caresio was three for five with three RBI's, St. Martin was 2 for 5 and scored two runs. Abrams chalked up three more RBI's and was 2 for 4 at the plate.
Matthew Hammonds earned his fourth win this season, he pitched seven innings, allowing only one earned run and struck out seven.
The Seawolves scored once in the fourth inning, but were down two runs by the fifth inning. So Sonoma came back to score five in the sixth. Caresio had a double RBI double and Abrams followed with a home run.
They scored once more in the seventh and twice more in the eighth.
The series will conclude on Sunday April 9th at 11:00am in San Bernardino.
