La Jolla, Calif. – Sonoma State fell 3-1 (25-23, 17-25, 27-25, 25-21) to the Tritons of UC San Diego and now sit 8-15 (.348) overall and 4-8 (.286) in CCAA.
Sonoma had four aces to UC San Diego's one.
SET BY SET: With 14 kills and a .174 hitting percentage, the Seawolves claimed set one 25-23 after gaining an early 10-6 lead over the Tritons. Sonoma State was held to a .059 hitting percentage in set two, scratching a total of seven kills, falling behind 13-3 early, before falling 25-17 to UC San Diego.
In set three Sonoma bounced back from a 5-1 deficit with 12 kills and a .071 hitting percentage to take a 13-11 lead over the Tritons. Extending its lead to 25-24, the Seawolves just short of match point fell 27-25.
The fourth set saw Sonoma State take a brief 5-4 lead, the score going back and forth the score tied 12 times. As the Tritons claimed four of the final six points to capture a 25-21 win in set four to take th match 3-1.
