Wildcats Edge Seawolves

Chico, Calif. -- Sonoma State was held to a .174 attack percentage Friday evening as Chico State registered a 25-20, 17-25, 25-19, 25-13 California Collegiate Athletic Association volleyball win over the Seawolves. Chico State is now 13-11 and 6-10 in conference play while the Seawolves drop to 8-16 and 4-11 in conference games.
 
SET BY SET:           
Sonoma State jumped out to an early 4-2 lead over the Wildcats, with three kills from Tate Battistini. The score went back and forth, five lead changes before the Wildcats strung seven points together for an 18-13 lead over the Seawolves. Sonoma claimed five of the final eight points but fell short 25-20 of a set one win.
 
The Seawolves jumped in front of the Wildcats early in the second set with five straight points for a 5-1 lead. The set was tied four-time before the Seawolves gained another large lead over Chico 15-11, then 19-13. Before claiming five of the final six points for an eight-point victory.
 
The third set saw the Wildcats take an early 8-4 lead, but Sonoma State countered with the next four points to tighten the score 10-9. Chico strung four together to gain a 19-11 lead before winning set three 25-19.
 
Sonoma fell behind 12-4 in what was the final set, hitting .174 the Seawolves fell 25-13 to the Wildcats .452 attack percentage.
