Down to the Wire

Rohnert Park, Calif. – The Seawolves held Cal Poly Pomona who entered the contest undefeated in the conference to a low 37% from the field lead throughout the forty minutes of play.
 
Sonoma State is now 3-5 overall and 1-4 in the CCAA after the 78-69 loss to the Broncos.
 
Despite an early five-point lead, the Seawolves were matched, then surpassed by the four-minute mark the Seawolves saw themselves down by 7 (14-7). With just under the two minutes left in the quarter Serena Santos tied the game 16-16. Holding the Broncos to a mere two-point lead the first period ended in favor of Cal Poly Pomona 21-19
 
Seawolves matched the Broncos frame in the second have, as both teams notched 12-points. Sonoma State held Cal Poly Pomona to 32 percent (9-for 28) from the field, allowing only three three-pointers. Kylie Kiech went 2-for-2 from the free throw line to help the Seawolves make half of its free throws in the first half. Tied with 45 seconds remaining in the half the Broncos downed two free throws to take a two-point lead into halftime. 
 
Out of the gate, Ugochi Anudokem featured a layup to tie the game 33-33. The score changed in favor of each team until 2:10 when the Broncos ran away with five over Sonoma. With three seconds on the clock, Sophie Northern downed a three-point shot to bring the score to 55-53. 
 
Layups made by Anudokem and Kiech gave the Seawolves fifth lead of the game. From then on the score went in favor of the Broncos as they ended the game nine points ahead of the Seawolves (78-69).
 
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
-    Serena Santos matched her season-high 10-point performance against Dominican University earlier this season, adding two rebounds and three assists against the Broncos.
-    Kylie Kiech one-upped her season high up to this point, downing a total of 19 points for the Seawolves and registering three assists.
-    A career high 17 rebounds by Ugochi Anudokem, shooting 8-for-15 from the field Anudokem recorded 16 points and three assists. On defense, Anudokem led the team with one block and one steal.
