ROHNERT PARK, Calif. -- On Wednesday afternoon the Seawolves welcomed nationally ranked #4 Hawaii Pacific University to Sonoma State. In a top-25 matchup, the #16 Seawolves battled hard but lost to the Sharks 5-4. With the loss the Seawolves fall to 8-3 and the Sharks keep their perfect record at 7-0.

The Seawolves got off to a quick lead by taking two of the three doubles matches. Jensyn Warren and Amanda Zuidema lost their doubles one match to Lena Lutzeier and Oceane Adam in a tie breaker (8-7 (7-4)). Carolyn Brooner and Jenna DeTurk were victorious over their doubles two opponent #11 Lara Meccico and Barbora Kijasova (8-7 (7-5)). In doubles three Hannah Highsmith and Katherine Long beat Leticia Gonzalez Dos Santos and Heloise Le Normad (8-5).

In singles play, Hawaii Pacific University featured three players nationally ranked in the top 25. In the singles one match #18 Jensyn Warren took on #9 Lena Lutzier and lost her match (6-3, 6-2). In singles two Amanda Zuidema took on #10 Lara Meccico and lost her match (6-1, 6-1). In singles three Clarisa Colling lost her match to #21 Oceane Adam (7-5, 6-3). Two Seawolves had victories in singles action. Jenna DeTurk won her singles five matchup against Barbora Kijasova in three sets (4-6, 7-5, 17-15). Katherine Long also found herself victorious in Singles six with a win over Heloise Le Normand (6-4, 6-2).

Seawolves look to bounce back on Friday when they the on the Eagles of Concordia (CA) University. First serve is set for 10 am.
