SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Thursday morning, the Sonoma State University Women's tennis team played in the second round of the Pacific West Conference Tournament against the #4 seed Point Loma University.

Coming into the match the Seawolves only faced the Sea Lions once this season on March 23 in San Diego, losing the match 5-1. The Seawolves Thursday morning's match, also by a score of 5-1, and move to 17-8 on the year, the Sea Lions move to 18-5. Sonoma State found themselves down 3-0 early when they lost all three doubles matches. The closest match was the doubles one match where Jensyn Warren/Carolyn Brooner lost to Shelby Groeneveld/Michelle Torres 8-6.

In the single matches, the Seawolves managed to get a point after the first completed match. #4 Jensyn Warren defeated #46 Nikki Newwell in the singles one match (6-2, 6-1) Other matches that were completed, Clarisa Colling was defeated by Gabi Armas in the singles four match (6-2, 6-2) to pull Point Loma within one match of victory. Michelle Torres clinched the quarterfinal match for the Sea Lions with a victory over Katherine Long in the singles six match (6-3, 6-2). For the other three matches, they were unfinished.

The Seawolves will play Stanislaus State tomorrow morning in the consolation bracket. First serve will be served 9:00 am.
