Seawolves Held Scoreless by #13 Tritons

LA JOLLA, Calif. – Sonoma State stayed nearly even in shot totals during their match with #13 UC San Diego Friday night, but the hosts were able to bag a pair of goals to defeat the Seawolves 2-0 from Triton Soccer Stadium. With the loss, the Seawolves fall to 2-5-2 and 0-4-1 in CCAA play.

Sonoma State goalkeeper Arturo Ornelas went toe-to-toe with his UC San Diego counterpart, Pedro Enciso, matching saves between the sticks at four each, three of which came in the second half.

Nathaniel Bloom put the Tritons on the board in the closing minutes of the first half, heading in a right-sided cross for a goal that dipped inside the far post at the 43rd minute.

UC San Diego doubled up the Seawolves in the 73rd minute, as Andy Sartor converted his third goal of the year. The Triton midfielder turned on a cross from the left side, burying it far-post for a 2-0 lead.

Sonoma State returns to action Sunday afternoon as they travel to Cal State San Marcos to take on the Cougars at 2 p.m. at The Cage.
