Belmont, CA - In Non Conference action, the Seawolves scored a goal in each half, before giving one up late to defeat Notre Dame de Namur 2-1 on the road Tuesday

afternoon.
It was a largely defensive first half until SSU's
Grayson Stewart played a long ball down the right front that was gathered in nicely by
Sahr Mattia and fired into the far corner just inside the post to make 1-0 in the 34th minute. That score would hold up for over 40 minutes of soccer.
Finally, the Seawolves would score again on a Penalty Kick taken by
Ulysses Vega in the 76th minute.
The Argonauts would get their only goal in the 83rd minute to make the final seven minutes hard fought but the SSU defense would prevail and preserve the road win.
"This was a great win for us as we get ready for a tough stretch of important games coming up," said Coach
Marcus Ziemer after the win. "We played everyone and kept everyone under 45 minutes so we will be ready to fight for a CCAA playoff spot."
As a team Sonoma State out shot Notre Dame 17-12 and improve their overall record to 5-6-1.
Next up for Coach Ziemer's squad are conference match ups Friday and Sunday on the home pitch as they host UC San Diego and Cal State San Marcos over the weekend.
