Monterey, Ca - The SSU Women's soccer team continues play solid defense and is now 4-0 in CCAA play after 2 big victories over the weekend. On Friday night, they defeated Cal State East Bay 3-1, only allowing the Pioneers 4 shots all night. Then on Sunday in Monterey the defense shined again with a 1-0 win over the Otters.
This was a defensive battle all day, as the Seawolves held Monterey Bay to only 7 shots, while taking just 9 of their own.
It was in the 40th minute that the Seawovles scored the game's only goal, as
Chiara Rigatuso made some great moves up the left side, worked into the middle and shot toward the goal. The ball was deflected to the left, right at the feet of
Raina Wristen, who then slid the ball by the keeper and into the net.
SSU Goal Keeper
Ashley Morton has now registered 4 shutouts on the season.
With the win Sonoma State is now 4-0 and high atop the CCAA Standings. Head Coach Emiria Salzman Dunn's team will go on the road next weekend, as well taking on Dominguez Hills Friday in Carson and then Cal State LA on Sunday.
