SSU Get's The Weekend Sweep After Win Against The Otters

On Sunday, October 6th, Sonoma State Seawolves took on the Monterey Bay Otters to close out their second week of CCAA action. The Seawolves struck early off of a cross that bounced through the Monterey defense and fell to Sean Rohane who struck the ball for side net goal. Monterey continued their attack throughout the half but the Seawolves were strong defensively and were tough to break down.

The second half began with a lot of early pressure from the otters as they were looking for the equalizer. Sonoma again was organized defensively and Coach Marcus Ziemer credited his defenders saying, "Our defense was excellent once again. Chava Gomez, Teto Gonzales, Devin Anderson, and Evan Roehrig played the whole game and battled." The Seawolves hung on late to win 1-0 as keeper Derik Engerbretson sealed the game with a goal line save with seconds remaining!

The Seawolves completed the sweep on the road this past weekend securing two wins and 6 points putting them atop the CCAA standings after two weeks of conference play!

Sonoma will travel again this week to Los Angeles to take on Dominguez Hills on Friday, October 11th, and Cal State LA on Sunday, October 13th, looking to keep the winning streak alive!
