Bench play was key for Sonoma State as the non-starters outscored the Pelicans bench 16-7 on the night.  A 10-0 second quarter run separated the teams as SSU led by as many as 18 points in the third quarter.

"It was a great team effort," said coach Rich Shayewitz after the win.  "We played great team defense and got good production from our bench.  I'm happy for our seniors who got us going in the right direction to start the season.
