Belmont, Ca - The Sonoma State Women's hoop squad took took the court for the first time this year and came away with a 69-60 win over a very good Dominican team on the road at Belmont.
The Seawolves outscored the Penguins in each of the first three quarters to lead by fifteen heading into the final ten minutes.

Ugochi Anudokem picked up right where she left off last season with an outstanding performance for SSU scoring 23 points and pulling down 14 rebounds.
Zane Sheckherd chipped in 11 points and
Kylie Kiech added 10 for SSU.
Bench play was key for Sonoma State as the non-starters outscored the Pelicans bench 16-7 on the night. A 10-0 second quarter run separated the teams as SSU led by as many as 18 points in the third quarter.
"It was a great team effort," said coach
Rich Shayewitz after the win. "We played great team defense and got good production from our bench. I'm happy for our seniors who got us going in the right direction to start the season.
The Seawolves return to Belmont Sunday afternoon for a 4PM match up with Notre Dame de Namur.
