Rohnert Park, CA- The SSU Women's Basketball team went on an 11-0 first quarter run in route to a 14 point win over Monterey Bay on Saturday afternoon.
Kylie Kiech had another big game scoring 19 points to lead the Seaswolves for the second straight game.
Sonoma State did a great job of taking care of the ball as they turned it over just 9 time compared to 20 giveaways by the Otters. SSU scored 24 points off turnovers on the day.
Serena Santos led the team with 5 steals. Another key stat was free throw shooting, where the Seawolves made 25 of 30 attempts. Kiech was a perfect 10 for 10 from the line.
Santos added 9 points and
Kim Savio scored 8 for Sonoma State.
After the big first quarter run the Otters hung in there, keeping it from becoming a blowout but eventually the Seawolves built the lead to 19 in the final 10 minutes.
