Rohnert Park, Ca- A great start and good finish for the Seawolves but the Chico State Wildcats took the middle and the end result 66-62 at The Wolves Den.
Sonoma State came out red hot and rolled to a 12-2 lead in the first quarter fueled by a 10-0 run.
Sophie Northern had 7 points in the high scoring first quarter. Chico State hit a couple of 3's however and pulled to with in 6 at 25-19.
From there the defenses settled down as both coaches made adjustments. The Wildcats went on an 11-0 scoring run in the second quarter and Chico went into the break up 1 at 30-29. SSU only able to score just 4 points in the entire quarter.
Chico built the lead to 11 after 3, but The Seawolves mounted a comeback in the 4th.
Kylie Kiech hit a big 3 down the stretch to make it close but Chico answered with a 3 and the rally fell short for SSU.
The scoring was balanced for Sonoma State with 4 players in double figures. Ugochi Anudoken had 16 coming off the bench, Kiech added 11 while Northern and .
Serena Santos poured in 10 a piece. The loss breaks a 4 game winning streak for SSU.
The Seawolves go on the road next week taking on UC San Diego on Thursday and Cal State LA Saturday.
