Seawolves Take Two

FremontCalif. – The Seawolves improve on the season with records of 8-8 overall and 6-4 in the CCAA.
 
Game One: Sonoma State 6, Cal State East Bay 0
Brielle Vidmar fired a four-hit shutout, and Julie Davis, Cameron Kirtlan and Jordyn Martinez all went 2 for 4. Leading the Sonoma State softball team to a 6-0 victory in game one on Friday.
 
After Vidmar tossed two three up three down innings in the first and third, and four scoreless innings, the Seawolves bats came alive in the fifth and sixth.
 
Kirtlan sparked the Seawolves offense with an RBI double up the middle in the top of the fifth to score Alee Balanon. Followed by back-to-back hits by Lindsey Calcany Blair and Martinez. Calcany Blair doubled to right center to score both Kirtlan and Davis for a 3-0 lead. Then Martinez knocked one to left center to bring in Calcany Blair for a 4-0 score.
 
With a leadoff homer in the sixth Cassidy Romano (her second home run of the season) extended the Seawolves lead to 5-0. Two outs in the sixth and White poked one through the left side to score Davis, scoring the game's final run.
 
Game Two: Sonoma State 16, Cal State East Bay 1
Freshman Camille Rodriguez recorded her first collegiate win in the circle, allowing a single run in the first, Rodriguez struck out five Pioneers in the five-inning game.
 
The nightcap was highlighted by Rodriguez performance in the mound and Romano's 3-for-3 effort at the plate. The Seawolves filled every frame scoring at least one run in every inning with seven doubles three home runs in the game.
 
Six runs in the first gave the Seawolves a strong edge over the Pioneers.
 
Sonoma State capitalized on three East Bay errors in the opening inning, scoring its first run off a throwing error by the shortstop. Then three RBI doubles, one after another, put the Seawolves up 6-0. Renner doubled down the left field line to score Calcany Blair and White Jack, doubled to left center scoring Renner and Martinez, then Romano doubled to left field to score Jack. 
 
Cal State East Bays solo home run in the bottom of the first inning was the only run scored for the Pioneers.
 
A three-run home run in the second by Martinez (her second home run of the season) put the Seawolves up 9-1.
 
Two runs off two doubles in the third by Balanon and Kirtlan boosted the Seawolves lead to 11-1.
 
With a ten-run lead in the fourth, Sonoma State featured two more double adding another pair of runs 13-1. Chadwell doubled to right center, and Romano doubled to center field. Balanon brought Romano home with a two-run home run (the seventh home run of her career).
 
The run-rule mercy was secured when Calcany Blair homered early in the count for a 16-1 final score.
