A Loud Ninth Caps the Night

San Bernardino, Calif. – A three-run homer by Josh Lenney for the ultimate comeback in the top of the ninth gave the Seawolves a 5-4 win in game one of its series against Cal State San Bernardino.

The first run of the game came in the top of the second when Josh Lenney scored Kory Brown with a double to left center. The Coyotes tied the game in the bottom of the inning with a solo homer to centerfield by Richard Castro (1-1).

After three and a half innings of scoreless baseball, Castro knocked his second home run of the game (2-1).

Both teams struggled to cross the plate in the seventh, an inning featuring five strikeouts.

Castro who credited all four RBIs for San Bernardino, brought in two runs with a single through the left side to give the Coyotes a 4-1 lead over the Seawolves entering the final inning.

A walk and a hit placed Zach Guardino in scoring position in which Tolbert doubled to center field to trade places with Guardino and cut the Coyotes lead in half 4-2. The Seawolves ninth inning rally didn't end there, just as the dust was settling Lenney knocked a three-run home run over left field to give the Seawolves their first lead of the game 5-4.

Two strikeouts in the bottom of the ninth and a ground out bunt secured the Seawolves 5-4 comeback win in Friday night's series opener.
