Seawolves Drop Series Opener

Chico, Calif. – Sonoma State out hit Chico State 15 to 9, despite six Seawolves recording a multi-hit game they fell 4-2 in game one of its final conference series.
 
Seawolves are now 21-22 overall and 19-19 in the CCAA.
 
Sonoma State gained an early lead over the Wildcats with two hits in the first inning the Seawolves added a run to the board. Zachary Guardino singled up the middle and advance to third off two wild pitches. With two down and a runner on third, Josh Lenney singled to left field to score Guardino. 
 
Despite ten hits throughout the second and eighth innings the Seawolves were held from crossing the plate. As the Wildcats gained a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning, then adding to its lead in the fifth (3-1). 
 
Chico State strung two timely hits together in the eighth and capitalized on a muffed throw by the Seawolves to add its fourth and final run of the game. 
 
Sonoma States ninth-inning rally was sparked by a leadoff double to left center by Dan Deely, a single to center field by James Harwell placed runners on first and third then Kory Brown singled through the right side to score Deely. The Seawolves rally came to a halt with two back-to-back strikeouts.
