Rohnert Park, Calif. – Seawolves improve 16-15 overall and 14-12 in the CCAA after beating Cal State Los Angeles 7-1 in game one. Game two was halted between the eighth and ninth tied at 1-1 due to darkness and is scheduled to resume tomorrow at 10:00 am before the series final doubleheader.
Roberto Baldenebro collected his first win on the hill this season, after throwing seven innings, facing 27 batters and striking out three, holding the Golden Eagles scoreless.
After 2.3 innings of scoreless baseball, the Seawolves brought five across the plate in the third.
Drew Downing led off the inning with a single to left field, followed by a single by
James Harwell to place runners on first and third.
Matt Hill then singled to left field to bring Downing home (1-0). A double by
Zach Guardino to left center scored Harwell (2-0). A fly ball sacrifice hit by
Kory Brown added the third Seawolf run, scoring Hill. With runners in scoring position,
Joshua Lenney doubled to right field to bring
Patrick Tolbert and Guardino home (5-0).
Following a three-up-three-down top of the seventh, the Seawolves added a pair of runs to the board. Harwell drew a leadoff walk, finding himself on third after a stolen base and a ground out to short by Hill. Brown singled through the right side to score Harwell (6-0). Brown capitalized on a passed ball and a wild pitch to find himself on third, Tolbert then singled through the left side to score Brown.
An RBI double by the Golden Eagles in the top of the eighth brought the final score to 7-1.
