Women's Soccer Shuts Out Fresno Pacific

Fresno, Ca - The SSU Women's Soccer team prevailed over Fresno Pacific with their third straight shut out win.  The Seawolves out shot the the Sunbirds 42-7 in rout to the victory.

Sonoma State scored early with a goal into the upper right corner by Alyssa Silva assisted by Alexis Espitia, just 2 minutes into the match.  22 minutes later Silva assisted assisted Espitia, who hit the net for the Seawolves, making it 2-0 .

From there it was all about the defense for SSU, GK Ashley Morton racking up 4 saves and the victory was complete.  The Seawolves pelted Fresno Pacific keeper Hannah Hathaway with 16 shots on goal.  Her 14 saves set a school record at Fresno Pacific.

Head Coach Emiria Salzman Dunn was pleased the team finished the preseason strong against a strong team, "It was a great result for us, especially on the road early in the week in the heat.  Now we know that we can find ways to be productive even in tough situations."    

CCCA play begins Friday for Sonoma State as the Seawolves host a Men's-Women's double header Friday and Saturday in Rohnert Park.
