Rohnert Park, CA - The Seawolves pulled out a 2-1 victory over the visiting Lumberjacks to earn their first conference win of the season. Sonoma state was dominating the game early with lots of ball possession and pressure on goal. It only took until the third minute for the Seawolves to get on the board. Julia Prittchard scored the opener for Sonoma assisted by
Alexis Espitia to go up 1-0.
The Seawolves continued their ball possession and attack creating several chances. However, Humboldt found some chances on the counter and on a ball crossed into the box a collision occurred with the Sonoma goalkeeper that resulted in a penalty kick for the Jacks. Humboldt took advantage and scored the PK to make it 1-1 going into the second half.
The second half was full of suspense as the Seawolves were peppering Humboldt State the majority of the half. Finally. with just 1:30 seconds left on the clock a long ball was played into the box, flicked on and then volleyed in by
Alexis Espitia! The Seawolves relentless pressure paid off and Sonoma took the victory with a late goal 2-1.
