San Francisco, Ca - The Sonoma State Women's basketball won their second game in a row, defeating San Francisco State 58-51 in the City on Saturday afternoon. The Seawolves led nearly from start to finish, playing dominating defense and out-rebounding the Gators 40-21.
Ugochi Anudokem had a team high 15 rebounds, 6 of those on the offensive end.
Sonoma State converted 13 offensive rebounds into 19 second chance points in route to the victory.
3 Seawolves scored in double figures, all with a team high of 12 points including Anudokem,
Sophie Northern and
Serena Santos.
Zane Sheckerd had another great game coming off the bench to score 7 and haul in 5 rebounds. The SSU bench combined to outscore the Gators 14-4.
The Seawolves trailed briefly in the first quarter 3-2 but then
Sophie Northern found Agochi Anudokem underneath for a layup and then again a few plays later the duo hooked up to give SSU a five point lead and they would never trail again. Northern ended up with 6 assists.

Rich Shayewitz was particularly happy with the defense holding SF State to just 51 points, "I loved our defensive effort today," He Said. "We dominated them on the glass and controlled the tempo of the game. Every road win the CCAA is good no matter who you are playing."
SSU improves to 6-4 in the CCAA and 10-5 overall. They are just 2 games out of first place trailing Cal Sate East Bay (8-2). They will continue to play on the road next week visiting Cal State Monterey Bay on Thursday and matching up with East Bay on Saturday.
