Seaside, Ca- The Seawolves' Women jumped out to an 8 point lead after one and led by as many as 13 points in the second quarter on the way to a 73-45 victory at the Kelp Bed.
Sophie Northern had the hot hand in the first half scoring 11, and hitting 3 of 4 from beyond the arc. She would finish the night with a team high 16 points.
The Sewolves pulled away mid-way through the third quarter with an 11-0 scoring run. 12 players scored for the Seawolves on the night with Northern leading the way, followed by
Kylie Kiech with 11 and
Serena Santos with 10.
Coach
Rich Shayewitz was particularly happy with the team's 12 assists after the intermission. Sonoma State shot an impressive 50% from the field and hit 9 threes.
With the win SSU is now 11-5 overall and 7-4 in CCAA play. Next up, a key conference matchup with Cal State East Bay on Saturday in Hayward. The Pioneers defeated SF State on Thursday to remain in first place in the CCAA. The Seawolves are trailing by just 2 games going into Saturday's game.
