San Francisco, CA- On Saturday January 11, the Sonoma States men's basketball team headed to the Bay to take on the Gators of SF state. Despite the Seawolves struggles of late, they were motivated to steal a game on the road against a struggling gator team and look to finish the season on a strong note.
Unfortunately, the Seawolves shooting troubles continued as they were just 4-24 from the field in the first half. Only two players for the Seawolves were able to get into double figures. Forward
Michael Smith finished with 16 and center Gilbert Wesley recorded another double digit performance with 10 points on 5-7 shooting. The bench was another big factor for the Gators as they outscored Sonoma 33-15 on the bench. SF State was also able to have 12 different players on the roster record a bucket in the contest to add to their strong depth throughout the game.
The game would finish 82-51 in favor of the Gators. Sonoma drops to 3-13 on the season and 2-8 in CCAA play. The Seawolves will return to the road again next week as they head to Monterey Bay and Cal State East Bay. They will then resume home action on January 23rd and 25th against Cal State San Marcos and UCSD as they look to pull off the upsets at home and get back in the win column.
