Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Seawolves Fall Late to Broncos

On Thursday January 2, the women's basketball team of Sonoma state took on the Broncos of Cal Poly Pomona. Both teams came into the game in a competitive spot within the conference standings and the Seawolves had a great opportunity at home with a solid Bronco team. Unfortunately, the Seawolves dropped their 3 loss of their last four and fall too 4-4 in the CCAA and 8-5 overall.

Sonoma came out hot as they shot 50% from the field after the first period and led by two. The Seawolves struggled to keep up that pace for the rest of the game and never reached above 40% again. Kylie Kiech led the Seawolves in scoring with 14 points and Zane Sheckherd followed with 13 to be the only Seawolves in double figures Thursday night. The Seawolves were in the mix come the 4th period as they pulled to within 5 but Cal Poly Pomona pulled away as Sonoma struggled to knock down shots late only making 2-10 shots from the field in the 4th.

The Seawolves return to action Saturday afternoon at 1pm as they take on Cal State San Bernardino as they look to get back above .500 in CCAA play.
