San Bernardino, CA - After winning 5 straight games and coming within a game of the first place Tritons, the Seawolves have now dropped their last two in a row and fall down to fifth in the CCAA standings. The Seawolves remain in good position however and have a lot to play for including a potential home playoff game in the first round of the conference tournament. The Seawolves fell last night to the Coyotes of San Bernardino 58-54.
The Seawolves were hot early and jumped out to a 13-4 lead after the first quarter. They were just 5-13 from the field but knocked down 3-4 free throws and played stern defense as they are well known for. The Seawolves did not allow one made field goal in the first as San Bernardino went 0-11 from the field and scored all 4 points off of free throws.
Ugochi Anudokem lead the scoring as she recorded another double double on the season with 17 points and 10 boards. She shot over 50% from the field in just 22 minutes of play.
Sophie Northern followed with 9 points and 9 boards as well. The Coyotes put up a 23 spot in the second quarter to bring themselves within 3 at the half but Sonoma continued to score efficiently in the second quarter with 3 made threes and 6-8 shooting from the stripe to help maintain their lead.
The third quarter was a low scoring battle for both teams keeping the game close. Sonoma committed 18 turnovers on the game which proved to hurt them down the stretch. The Seawolves would lose late as San Bernardino had a big fourth quarter scoring 21 points on 6-11 shooting to help secure the win. Sonoma drops to 9-6 in the CCAA and will face off against the fourth placed Broncos of Cal Poly Pomona in a very meaningful gam e to end the weekend road trip.
