WBB: Seawolves Drop 3rd Straight in SoCal

Pomona, CA - The Sonoma State women's basketball team headed into Cal Poly Pomona to end their 2-game skid and remain in the hunt for a CCAA tournament spot nearing the end of the season. The Seawolves had three starters in double figures to contribute to a consistent offensive performance but they struggled to slow down the  Broncos as they 51% and 43% from 3-point range. the Seawolves would drop their third straight 71-65. 

Sonoma had three starters in double figures including Kylie Kiech, Ugochi Anudokem, and Serena Santos. They combined for 34 of Sonoma's 65 points in the game. Anudokem also added a game high 14 boards on the night for the Seawolves. Taylor Johnson came off the bench and scored 12 big points in an efficient 28 minutes hitting 4 threes! 

Sonoma shot the ball well all night and had consistent scoring but just struggled to keep a cap on the Broncos offense. Sonoma also committed 15 turnovers on the night which lead to 21 points scored for Cal Poly Pomona. A double double performance from Pomona's Kasey Smit helped keep the Broncos on top. She scored a game high 26 points including 10 boards and 10 made field goals. 

The Seawolves still have control of their own fate in regards to the CCAA postseason tournament. They have dropped to 6th but will return home next weekend for Pack The Den looking for a home win against SF State. The Seawolves have one game next week allowing them to rest up and prepare for the remaining 3 weeks of the season.
