Arcata, CA - After coming off of a 2-game sweep against non-conference opponent Academy of Art, the Seawolves returned to CCAA action this weekend in a 4-game set with the Jacks of Humboldt State. Sonoma opened CCAA play against top contenders in UC San Diego and SF State but came away with back to back series splits. Sonoma came into Arcata and thumped the Jacks 12-3, 10-2, 12-3 and then won in a shootout 15-12 in game 4.
In game 1 senior
Teresa Danenberg got the ball and secured her 3rd win of the season throwing 5 innings and giving up 3 runs on 5 hits. The Seawolves would put away the Jacks by the run rule in just 5 innings of play.
Nicole Renner added to her homerun tally with a 2-run shot in the second.
Cassidy Romano would pile it on in the third with a grand slam to give the Seawolves a 9-0 lead!! Freshman
Giana Hays would continue her tear as well with a 3-run shot of her own in the third. The Seawolves scored all 12 runs in the 2nd and 3rd inning.
Nicole Sarra headed to the circle for game 2 and threw a complete game to secure her second win on the season. She gave up just 2 runs on 4 hits throwing 124 pitches in 7 complete innings.
Bella Chadwell got the start in left field for the Seawolves and went 2-4 on the day with 3 RBI's and hit her 2nd bomb of the season.

Amber Orchard all had a pair of hits each for the Seawolves along with 3 RBI's for Orchard in the game. The Seawolves would cap the game off with a 10-2 victory against the Jacks sweeping the first doubleheader.
Game 3 saw another offensive explosion for the Seawolves as catcher
Jordyn Martinez got in on the action and hit a 3-run homer in the second to give Sonoma the early lead.
Giana Hays would hit her second homer of the weekend in the same inning giving herself another pair of RBI's. That would make it 6-0 through 2 innings of play. Senior
Alee Balanon would continue to heat up and hit an RBI double in the 4th to give the Seawolves a 9-3 lead. She would finish with 2 hits in the game as SSU would put away the Jacks 12-3.
Game 4 saw a little different of a story as Sonoma jumped out to a 7-0 lead again early with the help of a grand slam from
Megan Ambriz!! After going up 7-0 the Jacks responded with a run and a grand slam of their own making it 7-5.
Alee Balanon would respond with a 2-run homer of her own in the 4th to extend the lead again 10-5.
Nicole Renner would keep the excitement going with another Seawolf grand slam in the 7th making it 15-8 SSU!! The Seawolves would hold on after another grand slam by Humboldt in the bottom half of the inning, winning the game 15-12!
Sonoma returns home this week for another non-conference matchup with Dominican University and then face off against rival Monterey Bay on Friday and Saturday in a 4-game set.
