ROHNERT PARK, CALIF. - On Wednesday, February 22nd, the Sonoma State athletics department launched their brand new athletics website redesign, powered by Sidearm sports. The website update marks the 5th redesign since the creation of sonomaseawolves.com back in 2006 and the 4th redesign with Sidearm sports. 

After going through a partial redesign in 2021, SSU athletics continued with their full redesign to give viewers an updated and enhanced experience when visiting sonomaseawolves.com. It's the first full website redesign since 2015 and offers updated features, a more user friendly main page layout, and added focus on advertisement and sponsorship space all throughout the website. With more editable ad space, viewers can better access different promotions, fundraisers, current athletics news, and more with just a click. 

NEW FEATURES:

Some new features in the redesign include an interactive and easy to use schedule bar at the top of the website. The schedule bar will show all upcoming SSU athletic events and by clicking the "+" icon in the right corner of each event, you can access different media links for that specific event such as live stats, live stream, and ticket links. You can also filter your search on the left side of the bar by selecting a specific sport in the dropdown or by clicking "Full Schedule" to see all upcoming events. 

Under the main story rotator is an updated ad space that can include anything from student-athlete awards to different promotional events like the 50th anniversary of IX or promoting the CCAA Network. Simply click on the image to be taken to the appropriate webpage associated with the image. As you scroll you will see an eye-catching rolling background to promote the uniqueness of Sonoma County, also an updated feature with Sidearm sports. 

Finally, just above the social media wall is another innovative ad space with separate editable squares that can also be used in a similar fashion to promote our student-athletes, schedules, or other promotional events. Simply click on the image to be taken to the corresponding webpage, just like the previous ad space explained above. 

With the full redesign now complete, and the first full redesign since 2015, there will be better integration for all types of users and devices, allowing for a more cohesive look and easier navigation abilities no matter what platform you are on. In November of 2022, sonomaseawolves.com recorded over 24,000 total users, one of the highest figures of the year. During that same month, nearly 74% of total sessions on the website came from mobile devices as this redesign ensures the accessibility of the website on all devices. 

Sonoma State athletics is excited to move forward with their rebranding process as they launched their brand new athletics app in November of 2021. The app is available on both Apple and Google Play stores and can be downloaded HERE. SSU would like to thank all parties involved with the website redesign including Sidearm sports, the leading website provider in college athletics. The Seawolves and Sidearm sports have shared over a decade long partnership, dating back to the first Sidearm redesign in 2011, and are excited to continue their relationship in the future to come. 

The SSU athletics communications team will be in contact with Sidearm throughout the coming days to ensure a proper transition to the new website and will look to solve any potential issues in a timely manner.
