Sonoma State's Arikat & Lopez Lead the Way in Close Loss Against the Broncos

POMONA, CALIF.- Sonoma State saw standout performances from Sheriene Arikat and Alysa Lopez, who both continued their recent offensive breakouts. In a back and forth game for 40 minutes the Seawolves can point to positive moments despite the final result falling in favor of the Broncos.

Lopez led all Sonoma State scorers with 13 points, knocking down three three-pointers and adding five rebounds. Arikat followed with 10 points while also grabbing six boards. The duo showcased their impact on both ends of the court, each recording three steals to help disrupt Cal Poly Pomona's offense. Arikat has been playing the best basketball of her career lately with an emphasis on her experience as one of the teams veteran seniors.

Freshman Sydney Peterson continued her strong play down the home stretch of the season, contributing seven points and three rebounds in 18 minutes. Peterson is averaging seven points a game over her last five games and is shooting a blistering 70% from the floor. Her presence off the bench has become a key factor for the Seawolves as they push toward postseason contention.

Sonoma State put up a fight defensively, forcing 17 turnovers and collecting 11 steals as a team. The Seawolves will now turn their attention to Cal State San Bernardino as they look to bounce back while down in southern California!
