Assistant men's and women's golf coach Jess Stimack joins the Seawolves in 2022-23 for his first season with both programs. Stimack comes to Sonoma State as a fellow CCAA member as he was a part of the men's golf program as a student-athlete at Chico State. From 2003-05 Stimack helped lead the Wildcats to some of their most successful seasons in program history. In three straight years, Stimack and the Wildcats finished inside the top-10 at the NCAA National Championships with their best finish coming in 2004 (2nd place). In 2006, Stimack would finish his undergrad and graduate from Chico State with a Bachelors in Recreation Administration.
From there, he would return to Sonoma County and become the assistant boys golf coach at Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa. After furthering his coaching career at Montgomery High, Stimack would join the staff at Bennett Valley GC and become a golf professional, a title he still holds today. There, Stimack handles instructional programs, private training, and tournament organization for youth competitions. After six years as the assistant at Montgomery, Stimack would make the leap and become the head varsity coach for the boys program in 2013. He would remain the boys head coach and golf pro at Bennett Valley until 2022.
Stimack brings a decorated career as an athlete and a terrific coaching mindset to the Seawolves staff as he demonstrates his ability to motivate and effectively instruct high level athletes individually and as a team. Sonoma State welcomes coach Stimack to the staff and we cannot wait to see his integration with both programs.
