Assistant cross country and track & field coach Breann Jackson first joined the coaching staff along with head coach David Lawrence Jr. in the fall of 2019. In 2023, Jackson would help SSU to the program's best finish at the conference championships as the Seawolves saw three podium finishes and placed 8th out of the 11 competing teams. The 2022 track & field season would see a similar result as Sonoma State would place 10th at the conference championships. After the cancelation of the 2020-21 season, Jackson and the Seawolves would return to competition in the fall of 2021 and have a historic year with a program best finish at the CCAA Championships since 2004.
A graduate from Wheatland high school in Wheatland, Wyoming, Breann Jackson was a 3 sport athlete winning state titles in volleyball, basketball and track & field. Jackson was also a Wyoming State Champion in the discus (2012) and a runner up in shot put (2011,2012) with multiple all-conference and all-state honors in each of her sports.
Jackson went on to continue her athletic and academic career at Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota. During her time at NSU, Jackson made three trips to the Division II national track & field meet, 2 indoor seasons (2014, 2015) and 1 outdoor season (2016) in the weight and hammer throws. In 2015, she placed sixth in the women’s weight throw to earn her first team All-American honor. The following year, she placed fifth in the women’s weight throw, earning her second All-American honors in 2016. After coming off an All-American indoor season, she provisionally qualified for the outdoor national meet in the hammer throw placing top 15 in division II. Other honors Jackson earned included NSIC All-Conference (indoor 2015, indoor 2016, outdoor 2016), NSIC all-academic team (2014-2016), USTFCCCA all-academic honors (2014-2016), and NSIC Scholar athlete (2013, 2015).
In 2017, Jackson graduated for Northern State with her bachelor of science in biology with a minor in psychology. After graduating, Jackson spent time coaching volleyball, basketball and track at Mira Loma high school and coached track at Del Oro High school from 2017-2019 where she sent multiple athletes to league championships, San-Joaquin Section and Master championship meets in the discus and shot put.
